A community finding strength together

Grief can feel isolating, but you don’t have to go through it alone. Our support groups offer a safe space to connect with others who have experienced similar losses. Guided by experienced professionals, these groups provide an opportunity to share, listen and find comfort in the understanding of others.

Support groups are often a helpful step further along in the grief journey, particularly for adults. While one-to-one counselling remains the main focus in the early stages of bereavement, group support can offer reassurance, perspective and a sense of community. By hearing and sharing experiences, you may find new ways to process your grief and develop coping strategies to help you move forward.

Our groups are carefully structured to ensure a supportive and effective experience. Sometimes, participants will be placed with others in a similar stage of grief, allowing for shared understanding and connection. Other times, a mix of experiences can provide valuable insight and mutual support. Each group is created based on demand, availability and the right balance of participants to provide the best possible support.

Who can join a support group?

Support groups are available only to individuals currently receiving counselling through Edward’s Trust. Your counsellor will discuss this option with you and help determine if and when a group would be beneficial for your journey. Individuals cannot join a group without this guidance, as we want to ensure the right support at the right time.

Our groups are available for as long as you need them, while we have capacity and sufficient numbers to run sessions effectively. The frequency and structure of groups depend on availability and demand, ensuring that everyone receives the best possible support.
