Children’s Mental Health Week is an annual awareness campaign dedicated to highlighting the importance of mental well-being in children and young people. Launched by the children’s mental health charity Place2Be, the week provides a platform to empower young people, equip them with essential emotional tools, and ensure their voices are heard. It encourages schools, families, and communities to engage in conversations about mental health, fostering resilience and support for children navigating life’s challenges.

‘Know yourself, Grow Yourself’
Giving children and young people the time and a safe space to allow them to process their thoughts and feelings associated with their grief.
Reflecting and helping children to recollect and cherish the memories that provide comfort.
Offering opportunities for children and young people to talk about the challenges they may be experiencing after the death of a parent or sibling.
Working alongside children and their families to provide individual support. Providing encouragement in recognising and accessing the resources and resilience they have in managing and overcoming the challenges that can present after a bereavement.
‘We don’t move on from grief, but grow around it’. (Dr Lois Tonkin, 1996)
