The Big Give Christmas Challenge is the UK’s biggest match-funded campaign, and once again Edward’s Trust is taking part in it. This year it runs from the 2nd to the 9th of December, during which every donation has the power to be doubled.
This is the fifth time that we participate, and this year we are aiming to raise £21,500, which will be used to fund the Kite Project, our early support and advice service offering help when it is most needed by bereaved families particularly following sudden traumatic death.
The Kite Project
Over the last couple of years, we have seen an increased need for early support and advice from bereaved parents, children and young people. Edward’s Trust has always offered holistic bereavement care, and this often involves long term support and counselling for those facing the most difficult bereavements. We know that early practical help, support and advice are increasingly needed for bereaved individuals already experiencing significant challenges and difficulties in their lives.
The Kite Project is an immediate response to bereaved people and families and offers the practical help and guidance that is needed in the first days or weeks after a bereavement. Without this specialist and expert service many bereaved individuals would struggle to navigate the immediate impact of the grief both emotionally and practically. It helps people express their feelings and grief and discuss their concerns about managing the many challenges they face in their grief and with the grief response of their children.
The money raised on our Big Give Christmas Challenge campaign will be used to fund the Kite Project so we can grow and expand our early support and advice service, which is offered at no cost to users. Our aims are to support upwards of 600 bereaved individuals through this project, as well as 50 professionals including Teachers, Social Workers and Health Care Professionals so they can provide on-going support to bereaved families in their communities.

One donation, double the impact
Every donation we receive to the Big Give web page from the 2nd to the 9th of December will be matched until we reach our target. So, for example, if you donate £10, we receive £20!
Our total campaign target is £21,500 + Gift Aid which will be raised by:
Matched Funding:
• £6,250 in pledges, which we’ve already secured
• £4,500 from our Champion funding, which this year is the Reed Foundation
Public funding:
- £10,750 is our target of public donations to get during Campaign Week (2nd December – 9th December)

Public donations ‘unlock’ matched funds, so we will only receive matched funding for the equivalent amount that is raised during the public campaign. E.g. if £5,000 is raised during the campaign week, we will receive £5,000 of the matched funds = £10,000 + Gift Aid.
Donations made during the public campaign MUST be made online through Edward’s Trust’s Big Give campaign page and within the time frame of the 2nd December – 9th December. Online payments can be made with a debit or credit card, but there is also an option to pay by bank using your bank account and banking app. If you were to have any issues when donating, please get in touch with our fundraising team.
