Edward’s Trust, which has run for 37 years, faces a funding gap and must raise at least £200,000 over the next 6 months to continue supporting bereaved families in the West Midlands.
It’s more challenging than ever to deliver our face-to-face services free at the point of use.
Christine Bodkin, Acting CEO of Edward’s Trust said: “Over the past year, we’ve seen rising costs, changes in charitable giving and challenges in rebuilding our fundraising team.
“Our newly established fundraising team, led by our new Head of Fundraising – Emily Humphries, is building a sustainable ‘engine’ for generating our income with the aim of securing the charity’s long term future.
“However, our current funding gap threatens Edward’s Trust and the continuation of our service. To save the charity, we must resolve this now and that is why we are launching our emergency appeal, ‘Without Us’.”
Without Us – save Edward’s Trust
The ‘Without Us’ emergency appeal aims to raise at least £200,000 over the next 6 months in order to ensure Edward’s Trust can continue changing lives.
Edward’s Trust was founded in 1989 by Peter and Hilary Dent in memory of their son, Edward who passed away at the age of seven after being diagnosed with a Wilm’s Tumour, a rare form of cancer.
Today, the charity offers a unique, holistic bereavement service within the region, providing one-to-one, in-person counselling and therapies, as well as support groups impacting 3,000 people every year.
Our beneficiaries have been devastated by the death of a child, parent or sibling. Many of them have lost any sense of hope for the future. We ensure they receive compassionate expert care with a holistic approach not available anywhere else, to give them the best chance to rebuild.
To date, our bereavement support charity has helped tens of thousands to begin to process every aspect of their grief, emotionally, psychologically and physically.
Without you, we cannot help them
Unlike some charities, Edward’s Trust does not receive any government or NHS funding. For 37 years, we have depended entirely on grants and donations from companies and the public. And we need you now more than ever.
People that contribute towards ‘Without Us’ will truly be part of securing the future of Edward’s Trust. Those wanting to support the appeal can do so in a number of ways:
Making a donation – Your money goes directly to funding the support services we provide bereaved families across the West Midlands. Donate here.
Arrange or join a fundraising event – Whether it’s a tasty bake sale or a thrilling sponsored stunt, you can raise money for Edward’s Trust in all sorts of ways.
Become a corporate sponsor – If your company, or the company you work for, chooses to donate to Edward’s Trust.
