Remember a Charity Week: Help the work live on with Edward’s Trust
In the fast-paced world we live in, it’s easy to overlook the impact we can have on future generations. But there’s a way to make a lasting difference, even when we’re no longer here – legacy giving, also known as leaving a gift in your Will. We asked Emma, our Fundraising and Evaluation Manager to tell us more.
”You will have seen year-round adverts and campaigns from many charities to leave a gift in your Will, but there is also an annual UK-wide campaign, this year running from the 11th to the 17th of September, called “Remember a Charity Week.”
During this week, individuals and charities come together to raise awareness about leaving gifts in Wills and the positive impact it can have on society. It’s an opportunity for us all to reflect on how we can leave a legacy of compassion and support for future generations, even in our absence.
For many of you reading this, Edward’s Trust is one such charity that you might consider supporting. We support over 1,000 children young people and parents every year offering a holistic approach through counselling, Play Therapy, wellbeing therapies, and a range of in-memory events. Losing a loved one is a profoundly challenging experience, and Edward’s Trust offers vital support to help families navigate this difficult journey. We do not set time limits and the service is completely free. Edward’s Trust receives no government funding, so in order to keep it this way, we constantly fundraise to cover our costs.
Legacy giving is a cornerstone of financial stability for many charities. Here are some reasons why legacy giving is so crucial to organisations like Edward’s Trust:
Expanding Impact: Legacy gifts enable charities to expand their reach and develop new programmes, ultimately benefiting more individuals and communities.
Honouring Values: Leaving a gift in your will allows you to leave a legacy that reflects your values and beliefs. It’s a way to make a meaningful contribution to a cause that matters deeply to you.
Inspiring Others: When individuals choose to leave a legacy, it often inspires others to do the same. This ripple effect can significantly increase the overall impact of legacy giving.
Greater direct contribution to services: Gifts in Wills have less administration costs that other types of fundraising so you can be confident that more of your money will be used to offer our frontline services.
Leaving a gift in your Will to Edward’s Trust is a meaningful way to ensure that families continue to receive the support they desperately need. Edward’s Trust, with its unwavering commitment to bereaved families in need, provides a powerful opportunity to leave a legacy of compassion and support.
