Remembering your loved one
Remembering and celebrating the life of your loved one is important. Here are a few ideas about how you might do that.
A leaf to remember your loved one
Edward’s Trust has a ‘Tree of Remembrance’ in the National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas, Staffordshire. If you have been supported Edward’s Trust, you may want to buy a copper leaf in memory of your loved one.’ The leaf will be inscribed with the name of your loved one and placed with care on our Tree of Remembrance. You can visit our garden and the Tree of Remembrance for quiet contemplation and reflection. It is a special place to visit and celebrate the life of the one you love.
Our leaves cost £25. If you would like a leaf on our tree, please get in touch at admin@edwardstrust.org.uk

Host a celebration event
Many of the families who have received support from Edward’s Trust like to ‘give back’ at the same time as holding an event in memory and celebration of their loved one. Some hold birthday parties on their loved ones birthday, others do something that is distinctive to the one they have lost, for example a motorbike rally ending at a pub for a quiz, going to a place they they went together, or to a place that reminds them of the person they have lost.
If you want any ideas or would like our logo to include on your invites or would like us to do the poster/invite design for you then do get in touch.
Digital ways to remember
One of the advantages of having a digital way of remembering is that friends and family can engage with this wherever they are in the world. No matter the time of day, there is a place for you or them to take a moment, share memories and reflect on their loved one.
Dedication
For families who are being, or who have been supported by Edward’s Trust we have a special dedication page when you can post the name, photo and a few words about your loved one.
Tribute
We are working with Much Loved charity so you can set up a Much Loved tribute page. It’s a great way for family and friends to have an opportunity to ‘take a moment’ to remember and reflect and see the difference that person made to the lives of others.
Just Giving
You can set up a Just Giving page in memory of someone. Go to https://www.justgiving.com/edwardstrust select ‘Fundraise for us’. Follow the instructions to either log on, or register, then select ‘Remembering Someone’ on the “What are you doing?” page. It’s a great way for family and friends to have an opportunity to ‘take a moment’ to remember and reflect and see the difference that person made to the lives of others.
How do others remember?

Remembrance Time
Every December we hold a Remembrance Time for parents to remember particularly the child or children who they have loved and lost.
Usually this is a live event but during the pandemic, we pre-recorded it and met remotely for a Virtual Remembrance Time in order to support the wider bereaved community. You can watch it here.
